On-Air Staff

Keith Pittman
Evening and Afternoon Host

Birthday:
September 27

Hometown:
Old Fort, NC

Family:
My wife Michelle and two sons, Zachary and Andrew

Pet:
One dog (Beauty), one cat (Princess), and my son's pet iguana

How and when did you accept Christ in your life:
During Vacation Bible School at Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church when I was seven years old.

Where else have you worked in radio or ministry:
This is my first job in Christian radio. However, my 20-plus years of radio experience dates all the way back to high school and includes stations in Marion, Boone, Goldsboro and Asheville (all in North Carolina) before ending up with Blue Ridge Broadcasting. During that time in radio, I've served as a music director, a news director, an anchor, as well as an air personality in just about every shift imaginable. I decided I wanted to be in radio at the age of seven and I never looked back! Now I'm happy that I can use those talents as part of a ministry for God.

College:
Appalachian State University (Class of '89). BA in Broadcast Communication. Currently working on a Master's in Instructional Technology through ASU.

Three people you admire:
My wife, my parents, and my former pastor, Rev. Ricky Mason.

Favorite Food:
Although you'd probably get a different answer depending on the day, most times I'd say nothing beats a good ribeye steak with a salad and baked potato. My favorite side dish is hash brown casserole. I love to grill!

Christian Book (besides The Bible) that has influenced you:
Understanding Bible Prophesy for Yourself by Tim LaHaye. I also like the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins.

Favorite Movie:
Probably Mr. Holland's Opus, but I'm also a sucker for Toy Story . That was the movie I saw with my wife on our first date.

Person who personally influenced your walk with Christ:
One of the greatest Christian examples I ever met was my grandfather, Pat Dale. His influence on my Christian life was profound and more than words could ever describe. I can only hope to be the example for someone else that he was for me.

Favorite Color:
Blue

What do you enjoy in your free time:
What free time? I also teach both college and high school, plus I'm working on a master's degree. I like taking long scenic drives and spending lots of time with my wife and two sons. I really enjoy watching my youngest son play sports, especially baseball. I also am a big collector of music and classic television shows and I love Major League Baseball. Go Braves!

Most boring job:
Would you believe that other than being a teacher, I've never done any kind of work except radio? In both of those professions, there's NEVER a dull moment.

Something about me you might not know:
I was snowed in at the radio station and ended up on the air all by myself for nearly 48 straight hours in Boone, NC during the Blizzard of '93. I talked virtually nonstop, relaying emergency information for the entire two days. This was actually a dream come true, as I had rehearsed such a scenario many times in my mind since I was a kid. Several years later, National Geographic did a TV documentary on the blizzard and asked me to reenact my experience and appear in the video and TV special. They compensated me with a copy of the video and a baseball cap. That's my three minutes of fame.

Favorite Verse:
Matthew 25: 26-27 and Philippians 4: 6-7
